@Mark, I respectfully disagree (most of my info on Facebook is not visible unless you are my friend). But I guess my point is that some people (including me) think that Facebook can be a private area. We set it up to be private, but every now and again, Facebook decides to introduce a "new feature" which will expose our data to anyone who's smart enough to write a Cookie sniffing piece of Javascript.

@bcp, thanks for the comment I agree.

Along with more stringent laws and standards, I believe we should also do a better job at educating the public about what information is being sent back and forth on the wire very publicly. I came across a very well written, but somewhat technical description of the problem: http://33bits.org/2010/09/28/instant-personalization-privacy-flaws/

It is impossible to put this genie back in the bottle. Nothing in my view will ever change until we strengthen privacy laws and laws that force businesses to clearly show line by line what information they collect and share and most importantly why they collect and share it and how they do this. An 8pt font EULA and a line that says to "enhance" the services we provide to you is not enough.

Hey Evan, thanks for the notes. Good to know you can start watching while it's still downloading. Though considering my particularly the slow connection to iTunes servers it made more sense to just wait a day instead of killing the mood in the middle of the movie :)
I agree, I think Netflix for mobile is still a one/couple of years away. Maybe once we have widespread 4G in North America.

A few notes:

* It isn't obvious from the user interface, but you can start watching before the movie is fully downloaded. In your case, the download was too slow for this to be really helpful, but you could have started watching at the 2 hour mark, and it would have finished downloading while you watched.

* The 24-48 hour limit only applies once you start watching. You can download and keep the video for (I think) up to 2 weeks or a month or something.

Your point still stands: You need to plan in advance with iTunes. However, I still really appreciate that I can use it to watch movies on the bus, which I can't do with Netflix streaming.

Hi Sahand,
thank you for the review and for putting this together, the timing formula is very helpful :)
Could you please email me the study notes and the time spreadsheet and any other info that you found helpful. Also, did you create a study schedule organizer for yourself ( like a spreadsheet) that you followed? could you email it as well?
How did it go with admissions?
Thanks!
